Computer Programming Bachelor Program SAE Institute 2016~2017

In 2016, I started the Computer Programming Bachelor Program at SAE Institute. At the beginning it was an exciting step towards my passion for games, but also one filled with challenges, particularly because I was studying in a language I had not yet fully mastered.

There were a few moments of triumph at the start when I finally began grasping the programming concepts. Each success felt like a significant achievement, I could do this, I could overcome this language barrier. It was easy! Writing my first functional program brought immense satisfaction, as it was proof that my passion to learn how to code games had overcome my struggles with German.

However, the journey was not without its hiccups. Learning technical terminology in a foreign language often left me feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. Group projects were especially challenging, as I sometimes found it difficult to communicate my ideas clearly, especially towards my classmates whom I would have to work together on projects with, leading to moments of self-doubt and isolation.

Despite these lows, the experience taught me resilience. I learned to rely on logic, patterns, and problem-solving skills when words failed me. Looking back, I am proud of what I accomplished during that time. With each struggle, the successes tasted even sweeter and reinforced my mindset that even the toughest challenges can be overcome with passion and a lot of caffeine.
